According to the CDC,masks become less effective when wet as they are more difficult to breathe through and less efficient at filtering. It is important to have one or more replacement masks during cold, wet weather, including rain and snow. If you are wearing a reusable mask and it becomes wet, put it in a sealed plastic bag until it can be washed. If you are wearing a disposable mask and it becomes wet, safely remove and dispose of the mask and replace with a new, dry mask.
